National Water Dance Project

On Saturday, our Senior Dance Mastery and Advanced Dance students participated in the National Water Dance Project. National Water Dance is an artist-driven collective of dancers and educators confronting critical water issues facing the United States. Dancers across the country create simultaneous, site-specific dance performances with movers of all ages and experience. Created and directed by Dale Andree, National Water Dance believes that our environment is the most pressing issue of this generation and as dancers we are using our bodies to create a community that reaches out for action.

The CEA/CEC dancers were thrilled to participate and proud to be able to perform alongside many professional dance companies, including CEA jazz teacher, Diego Salterini's company, Dance Now! Miami. Thank you Ms. Danella for this wonderful opportunity and for showing our dancers that they can use their talents to make a difference in the environment!

In addition, Mrs. Jackson, 8th grade Grammar and Composition teacher, worked with the 8th graders on poems about water conservation, some of which were chosen and placed on exhibit at the National Water Dance Performance! Here are two of our students' poems, by 8th graders Carlos Soler and Carolina Gutfreund, as well as some photos of our dancers performing to bring awareness to water conservation.
