Dance Performance Classes

The 2024 performance classes for CEC Dance students were a wonderful opportunity for our younger dancers to perform on stage and share what they have learned in the year. Several different age groups in each discipline participated in the same performance class, in order for the audience to gain an appreciation for the progression from level to level, and understand the “why” behind the exercises students work on in their classes.

Martial Arts Demo

The Martial Arts Demonstration took place on Thursday, May 9th. Students demonstrated their growth in tae kwon do, and students who passed the belt exam were officially promoted! Congratulations!

Celebration of the Arts

On Saturday, June 1st, we presented Celebration of the Arts, featuring our singers, dancers, and musicians in sixth grade through high school, including many of our Conservatory’s graduating seniors.  Celebration of the Arts was a unique collaboration between our music, dance and voice departments, where all choreographies and vocal performances will be set to live music by our students, in addition to several musical solo pieces. Christmas in the Gardens

Friday, December 8th at 7:00 p.m.Pinecrest Gardens Banyan Bowl Christmas in the Gardens celebration of music and dance in the beautiful Pinecrest Gardens Banyan Bowl. Estampas del Quijote

Saturday, November 4th at 6:00 p.m.Rosita Segovia Theatre  Estampas del Quijote is a collection of scenes and fragments of the beloved story of Don Quijote de la Mancha, adapted by Raul Salcedo and Marisol Moreno, and brought to life through dance. Florida Dance Association Young Dancer Workshop

The Senior Dance Mastery and invited CEC dancers traveled to Gainesville, Florida to attend the Florida Dance Association Young Dancers’ Workshop, held at the University of Florida and Santa Fe College campuses. Students spent the weekend in back-to-back classes and workshops in a variety of dance forms, including ballet, modern, Limón Technique, hip hop, West African, musical theater, and more!  Students watched three performances, including the Limón Dance Company. Lisset Iglesias at Miami Beach Classical Music Festival Summer Program 

Lisset Iglesias Ledon, CEA class of 2020 and CEC voice student, attended the Miami Beach Classical Music Festival (MMF) Summer Program under scholarship. She has been part of MMF’s Youth Program, which is a full tuition scholarship program, since the winter of 2022. As part of the program, students participate in master classes and performances throughout the year. In the summer of 2022, Lisset participated in master classes with world renowned singers such as Dolora Zajick and was part of the ensemble for MMF’s productions of Hansel and Gretel and portrayed the role of Fortuna in L’incoronazione di Poppea.   Lisset…

Several of our high school dancers participated in prestigious summer intensive programs this year. We are very proud of their continued progress as dancers! Isabela Atienza, CEA class of 2020 and CEC dance student, participated in the Joffrey Ballet School Ballet and Contemporary Intensive in Miami. After the intensives, she was invited to join the ballet and contemporary trainee programs in New York. Diego Varela, CEA/CEC 7th grade student, at Killington Music Summer Program Congratulations to Diego Varela, who received a scholarship to attend the Killington Music Festival residency program in Killington, Vermont this summer! Each summer, KMF gathers some of the most talented and well-prepared musicians in the country and abroad from institutions such as The Juilliard School, Boston Conservatory, New England Conservatory, Manhattan School of Music, Peabody Conservatory, Eastman School of Music and the University of Arizona for a summer of classes and performances. CEC Music Students Perform in Vienna

Paloma Diaz and Felipe Diez, CEA class of 2021 and CEC music students, Perform in Vienna Congratulations to two of our CEA alumni and Conservatory music students, Paloma Diaz (violin) and Felipe Diez (clarinet and piano) who participated in the Summa Cum Laude International Youth Music Festival in Vienna, Austria this summer. Paloma currently studies violin at CEC with Jose A. Guibert. Felipe studies clarinet at CEC with Norman Milanes and piano with Ileana Cortizo. During their time at CEA, they both formed part of the CEA Music Mastery and Conchita Espinosa Orchestra.

For 87 years, Conchita Espinosa Conservatory of the Arts (CEC) has maintained their commitment to the development of young artists. CEC offers students exceptional technical and artistic training within a nurturing environment that allows them to develop into human beings with a deep understanding, appreciation, and respect for the Arts. Enrollment is open to the community and not limited to students from the Academy. Classes are also available for professionals and adults.
