Antonio Perigo was born in Havana, Cuba. He began to study trumpet when he was 10 years old at the Conservatorio Alejandro Garcia Caturla. He graduated from the Escuela Nacional de Arte (ENA) in 1996. Since then, Mr. Perigo has performed alongside some of the most recognizable Latin artists, including Celia Cruz, Albita Rodríguez, Olga Tañon, Emmanuel, Chayanne, Oscar D’ Leon, Omara Portuondo of the Buena Vista Social Club, Juan de Marcos Gonzales and the Afro-Cuban All Stars, and Luis Enrique, among others. He is the lead trumpetist for Cuban folk group, Cortadito, named “Best Latin Act” in 2019 by the Miami New Times in their “Best of Miami” issue. Mr. Perigo has taught in Cuba, Mexico, and Houston, Texas, and most recently, has formed part of the music faculty at Conchita Espinosa Academy and Conchita Espinosa Conservatory of the Arts since 2021.
