Spanish Dance
Cristina Masdueño was born in Havana, Cuba. From a young age, she trained in classical Spanish dance, Spanish folklore, and escuela bolera. She studied under Rosita Segovia at the Conchita Espinosa Conservatory of the Arts, and also studied in Spain with Pedro Azorin, Merche Esmeralda, Victoria Eugenia, and Paco Romero, among others. Ms. Masdueño attended New World School of the Arts, college division, where she trained in other disciplines such as ballet, modern dance, jazz, and African dance. Her teachers included Judith Newman and Freddick Bratcher. As a professional she was a principal dancer with the Ballet Español Rosita Segovia and toured with the Maria Benitez Spanish Dance Company. She has performed with the Florida Grand Opera. She has worked with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, performing onboard as a guest artist with “Ole Ole” Dance Company. She began her career as a dance teacher at CEC and owned her own studio for many years. Ms. Masdueño currently lives in Miami with her husband and daughter and continues to teach at CEC.
