Felipe Diez, Miami International Music Festival Grand Award Winner

Congratulations to Felipe Diez, CEA/CEC Class of 2022 and senior at Belen Jesuit Preparatory School, who performed as the Grand Award Winner at the 2026 Miami International Music Festival’s Grand Award Winner’s Solo Recital at the University of Miami Gusman Concert Hall.

Felipe began his musical studies at Conchita Espinosa Academy and Conchita Espinosa Conservatory of the Arts, where he discovered and cultivated his passion for music. He began his music studies with Norman Milanes (clarinet), and spent six years in the CEA’s music mastery program under the direction of Yirka Ledon and Norman Milanes. In his middle school years, Felipe began his piano studies with Ileana Cortizo. 

Since his years at the Conservatory of the Arts, Felipe has continued his music studies with Giselle Brodsky, and has worked with artists including Ilya Itin, Kemal Gekic, Alexander Gavrylyuk, and Dmitry Ablogin through the Miami International Piano Festival Academy, and in 2024 he performed Bach’s Branderburg Concerto No. 5 with the Musicall Youth Orchestra in Vienna’s Musikverein, Salzburg’s Mozarteum, and Prague’s Smetana Hall.

He performed Takemitsu’s Litany, Mvmt. 1 and Rachmaninoff’s Sonata No. 2.
