Dance Summer Intensive Showcase

Congratulations to the dancers who participated in this year’s Summer Dance Intensive for an exceptional performance. Their end-of-summer performance showcased their hard work, talent, and versatility as dancers! The performance featured classical ballet pieces, jazz, Escuela Bolera, classical Spanish dance, folklore, fusion, original student choreographies, and ended with our incredible story dance production of Moana, conceptualized by Danella Bedford in collaboration with Marisol Moreno and Cristina Masdueño.

Thank you to our incredibly talented dance faculty for these past five weeks and last night’s showcase: Danella Bedford, Marisol Moreno, Kenia Garcia Cabrera, Ph.D., Cristina Masdueño, and Leiza Mendez. You are Conchita’s legacy! Thank you for your impeccable attention to every detail, your commitment to developing the technique and bringing out the artistry in each of your dancers, and to guiding them as wonderful human beings.

Led by Danella Bedford and Marisol Moreno, the CEC Dance Intensive is designed to strengthen students’ dance technique, artistry, and creative capabilities, as they challenge themselves to think outside the box through a summer-long project integrating different forms of dance.  All dancers will have the opportunity to participate in ballet, contemporary, jazz, and Spanish dance technique classes, including Spanish dance work with castanets, fans, bata de cola, and mantón (shawl).  Students will be placed in groups according to age and level, as determined by their teachers and will participate in a variety of different dance, choreography, and performance-related classes. There is a performance at the end of the summer session.
