Ballet
The Ballet department offers a sequential program geared toward the acquisition of classical technique and vocabulary, with a strong emphasis on body placement, coordination, and overall movement quality. The use of a professional live pianist in many of the advanced classes encourages the musical qualities to develop within each dancer. Students are introduced to Pointe training once it is determined that the student has the physical development, core strength, and proper leg alignment and strength to begin Pointe work.
We encourage a growing passion for and dedication to this art form, so that every student may take their
special gifts with them with confidence and pride.

Lyrical
Lyrical classes are by invitation only and are geared toward the older and emotionally developing student.
There are 3 levels: Junior (ages 11-12), Senior (ages 12-14), and High School (ages 14 and up).
Lyrical is not an actual technique but rather a quality of movement that calls on different styles and techniques. This class focuses on personal interpretation. The aim is for each individual to be in touch with their own special qualities to create a sincere, unforced performance, and a true artist. The dancer must develop and understand his/her own inner emotions to truly express the human soul.
Lyrical classes tap into a variety of emotions and experiences. Lyrics of songs are sometimes interpreted, thus it is important that students have a maturity that includes a wide emotional vocabulary and understanding, allowing for an age-appropriate expression of various themes important to the human experience. Students invited to this class need to have a strong ballet technique.

Spanish Dance
The objective of the Spanish Dance program is to teach the four disciplines which comprise Spanish dance: Folklore, Flamenco, Classical Spanish, and Escuela Bolera. Through exposure to the dance forms of Spain, students are exposed to different facets of Spanish culture.
Elemental and Introduction Levels: Students are introduced to learning the dance of Spain through games and exercises that develop rhythm and coordination in an entertaining and playful way.
Beginners and Intermediate Levels: Concentration is placed on teaching the fundamental base of Spanish Dance, making students aware of body control and the proper use of space, as well as learning proper footwork (“zapateado”), complex arm movements (“braceo”), and turning techniques / combinations. It is at this level that students are introduced to using castanets as an instrument of percussion.
Advanced Levels: These levels concentrate on perfecting the techniques and interpretation of the dance, introducing elements from other disciplines—such as contemporary dance--which allows the student to express her emotions and develop as a skilled artist.
Ballet for Spanish Dancers: Ages 10+ Ballet for Spanish Dancers is a class designed for dancers who are registered in Spanish dance to polish and clean their technique and posture through ballet exercises.

Hip Hop
Hip Hop is an urban form of dance that focuses on the stylish, high energy, self-expressive, and “swagged out” movement that is currently cultivating our youth. This popular style of dance pushes our kids to become the best dancers they can be, focuses their energy in a positive setting that promotes teamwork, and aims to help mold your child's character through the power of dance. By disguising fitness as fun, the Hip Hop program uses clean and main stream music to teach our students the technicalities of this unique genre. Whether you’re looking for an activity that gives your child a good workout, expands their dance background, or just enhances their self-confidence, Hip Hop is the place to be!
